Lithium Batteries
Solutions to complex problems

THE BOAT BATTERY is the long-awaited solution to installing lithium power storage on modern canal boats, solving all the associated niggles and faults that come with other lithium systems that have frustrated us for too long.
Offering compatibility with engines that use two alternators (including a dedicated alternator for domestic use) and providing an accurate state of charge reading. We ensure reliability with a 5-year Warranty Service which doesn’t require the removal of the battery if a repair is needed.
For the past 10 years we have been researching, refining and developing the only solution you need for reliable, efficient and safe use of lithium storage combined with alternator charging in off-grid applications.
Two years ago we designed and built our specialist workshop to produce the perfect product for our amazing community.

User friendly interface

Once the unit is plugged into a communications centre device, such as the Victron Cerbo GX, you can see the state of charge, cell voltages, battery temperature and even the health of the battery.
All-In-One Plug & Play
A complete kit of components ready to go which previously, would’ve taken a lot of time, space and frustration to source & install.
A Lifetime of Power
A Grade EVE cells that are compressed for longer life cycles only need replacing every 6,000+ cycles or roughly 15 years!
Safety First
Our batteries use REC BMS to instantly stop all charging, including the alternator, to avert potential damage and hazards.
Sizing your battery
Any boat, Any capacity
THE BOAT BATTERY is available in 4 capacity sizes, 3.7 kWh, 7.5 kWh, 15kWh and 30 kWh. The most common 7.5 kWh version allows most boats, both narrow and wide, to have more than enough battery capacity. The 15 kWh version is then available when signifcantly more capacity is needed – and the 30 kWh is generally for propulsion.
Please talk with us about your demand so we can get it right for your needs. Based on years of our own off-grid experince, as well as the fact that we have remote access to over 100 boats that use our off-grid electrical systems on the inland waterways, we have gained frst hand practical experiance of exactly what boaters need. For example, we know that in 24h period, the average narrowboat consumes around 2.5-3 kWh, with larger wide beam crafts consuming around 4-5 kWh.
Battery Voltages Explained
12v -
12v
12v is suitable if you are matching it up with an existing inverter or alternator. Please note that the largest inverter that 12v can run is 3kVa. In many cases we advise converting to a 24v, because it makes for a more powerful system at the same cost. Converting over to 24v will not affect the existing 12v items, such as lights or water pumps, which will stay as a 12v system.
24v -
24v
24v would be our recommendation if you’re building a new boat, or a complete system from scratch. It will enable a much faster alternator charge, and the chance to install a bigger 5kVa inverter.
48v -
48v
48v is suitable for very large installations that require an inverter larger than 8kVa – or the need to run electrical propulsion.
WE OFFER TWO DIFFERENT SYSTEM SPECS
Both series are built the same and use the same A grade EVE cells but have
different electrical operating systems.
THE SMART SERIES

This SMART series uses a JK BMS, with bluetooth connectivity, and an optional display screen displaying battery infomation such as state of charge and current readings.
It can be used with most types of inverter charger or solar charger – but we only install this version using DC-DC charging from the engine’s alternator, making the engine recharge time slow. Using a manual main isolator, this gives an option to isolate the domestic power or solar input seperately.
THE PRO SERIES

The PRO series has been designed to get the most from your engine when recharging. The REC BMS is capable of controlling the engine’s alternator, protecting it from overheating or open circuit spikes – This means we can achieve a very fast engine charge time. However, the
system does require full Victron equipment, and the inverter under 8 years old.
Many other features are included such as remote data monitoring, remote email alerts if your battery is low, better charge curves for longer-lasting cell life – and a remote pushbutton isolator to shut down the battery system and solar power. You also have the reassurance of remote support from us allowing us to log in and analyse data on your system.
